Elumelu, CON, Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) and Chairman of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/transcorpnigeria.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transcorp Plc,<\/a> <\/span>received special recognition as the Seven Stars first-ever Man of the Year award for his notable commitment to entrepreneurship in Africa and globally, through his Foundation at the just concluded 7<sup>\u0630<\/sup> Annual Seven <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sevenstaraward.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stars Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards (SSLHLA).<\/a> <a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/transcorpnigeria.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transcorp Plc<\/a> <\/span>carted away four awards at the event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This recognition was awarded to Tony Elumelu, Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, the leading African philanthropy focused on empowering African entrepreneurs which has committed $100million to identify, train, mentor and fund 10,000 young African entrepreneurs in 10 years. Thus far, TEF has empowered over 7,500 entrepreneurs with training, mentorship and seed capital through its flagship Entrepreneurship Programme in just 5 years alone. Elumelu is the proponent of the philosophy \u201cAfricapitalism\u201d which emphasizes a private-sector led approach to accelerating Africa\u2019s sustainable development. In addition to the Foundation\u2019s personal commitment, his Foundation joined forces with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to fund an additional 100,000 young African entrepreneurs within a similar timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The award was received by President\/CEO of Transcorp, Valentine Ozigbo, on Mr. Elumelu\u2019s behalf. Special awards were equally given to Mr, Ozigbo as the Seven Stars Hospitality Personality of the year, along with Transcorp Hilton Abuja\u2019s Signum Virtutis (Seal of Excellence) in the Hotels Sector for Nigeria and the SSLHLA Business Hotel \u2013 Africa Special Award for 2019; making it the fourth consecutive year the hotel has attained this prestigious recognition.
