Q: How do I apply for the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme? 

A: The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme is open to Africans from all 54 African countries with scalable business ideas or a business that has been operational for no more than 5 years. Applicants must be 18 years of age and above. Interested applicants may register on https://tefconnect.net// 

Q: What next after application? 

A: Kindly note that next steps of the 2021 Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme will be communicated to all shortlisted applicants well ahead of the beginning of the Programme.   

Q: Is there a registration fee to be paid before the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme Application? 

A: The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme is free for all applicants. The Tony Elumelu Foundation does not engage or work with any third parties to facilitate applications or trainings and will not ask for payment for any aspect of the Programme. 

Q: I have signed up and applied to the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme on tefconnect.com but no confirmation email received 

A: Kindly ensure to check your inbox, spam, and junk mailboxes for confirmation emails. Be sure to send an email to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation.org for any further assistance.  

Q: While filling my application on tefconnect.com, I am unable to click on ‘’CONTINUE’’ to move to the next part of my application 

A: If you experience any issues with filling your application, kindly send an email to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation.org with detailed reference either with text, image or video and we will resolve immediately.  

Q: I am unable to log in with my registered email address 

A: If you experience any log-in issues, kindly send an email to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation.org with detailed reference to the issue and we will resolve immediately. Could you explain to us in detail the problems you face when trying to log in? If you can, please also send us error screenshot. 

Q: Can I use a student ID to apply? 

A: We are only able to admit government issued ID and any other ID will render the application void. 

 Q: Is there a TEF number that I can call/WhatsApp? 

A: Kindly use THIS LINK to access our WhatsApp. Our team is available 24/7.

Q: I am unable to upload my ID/photo 

A: Kindly ensure that you are uploading a PDF/JPEG document no more than 1MB in size. If issue persists, kindly send a screenshot of the error message to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation.org 

Q: What is the difference between tefconnect.com and tefconnect.net? 

A: Kindly note that both domains are valid and hosts our current Programmes.  

Q: Who is eligible to apply? 

A: The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme is open to Africans from all 54 African countries with scalable business ideas or a business that has been operational for no more than 5 years. 

Q: Can TEF sponsor my education? 

A: No, the Tony Elumelu Foundation is exclusively committed to empowering African entrepreneurs through entrepreneurship. 

Q: What is the next step after applying on TEFConnect? 

A: Once you have successfully submitted your application, you will be contacted with more details about the training and next steps. 

Q: How long is the training? 

A: The training phase of the Programme will last for twelve (12) weeks. However, some intervention Programmes could be modified to last for 4 weeks or 6 weeks. 

Q: Tell me about the TEF training 

A: The TEF training content, called the Start-up enterprise toolkit, is a bespoke Programme tailored to support young and dynamic entrepreneurs through their business journey with focus on the successful execution of their business plans and ideas. Our training Programme is self-paced for each entrepreneur, allowing the necessary flexibility for participants to attend the training course whilst carrying on their usual activities. 

Q: How do I access the training content? 

A: TEF Entrepreneurs can access all necessary learning content for their cycle and further learning in the resource library on TEFConnect.com 

Q: How do I join the WhatsApp group as an eligible entrepreneur? 

A: As part of your onboarding, you will be granted access to a TEF specified digital platform for instant communication and networking purposes. 

Q: Can I reapply after being rejected before? 

A: Yes, we encourage you to reapply to our Programme until you are successful. Be sure to visit tefconnect.com for resources that can be helpful to your next application. 

Q: Cannot access the link to the training content that was sent 

A: Kindly send an email to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation.org telling us in detail about the issue. 

Q: Do I have to take training assessment? 

A: Yes. All entrepreneurs are advised to complete the assessment and submit within the provided timelines.  

Q: What is thePreparatorytrainingcategory?   

A: This means you will not be eligible to progress in the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme at this time. However, we encourage you to boost your skillset with our free training toolkit available on TEFConnect and reapply during our next application cycle. 

Q: Why am I in a training category? 

A: Our system has assessed the answers to the questions you provided and placed you in the appropriate training path.  

Q: What is thestart-uptrainingcategory? 

A: This means that you will undergo the Beginner training curriculum and you will have access to world class mentors during the Programme. Based on your performance through the training Programme, you also stand a chance to pitch your business plan to a set of judges for final selection to receive seed capital.  

Q: What is theinnovatortrainingcategory? 

A: This means that you will undergo the Intermediate training curriculum and you will have access to world class mentors during the Programme. Based on your performance through the training Programme, you also stand a chance to pitch your business plan to the set of judges for final selection to receive seed capital. 

Q: What is thedisruptor trainingcategory? 

A: This means that you will undergo the Advanced training curriculum and you will have access to world class mentors during the Programme. Based on your performance through the training Programme, you also stand a chance to pitch your business in person to the set of judges for final selection to receive seed capital.  

Q: Is it possible to see my assessment score? 

A: This will be subject to formal request by the entrepreneur. TEF reserves all rights of decision to reveal or otherwise.  

Q: What do you mean by resource library? 

A: The online resources library is our bespoke compendium of materials, case studies, videos, tasks, templates, and interesting articles. 

Q: What do you mean by Business plan. Is it different from a Pitch Deck? 

A: Yes, it is. A business plan is a written document that describes in detail how a business — usually a start-up — defines its objectives and how it is to go about achieving its goals while a Pitch deck is the summary of a business plan. 

Q: I did not get the link to the Business Plan template

Q: Can I get an extension on the submission of my business plan? 

A:  Submission of the Business Plan usually features in the 10th week of the training Programme. During the training, clear communication on the timelines of the business plan submission is communicated to trainees and must be adhered to.  

Q: Can I go ahead and open a Bank account now? 

A: Kindly hold off from opening a bank account. Once you become eligible to receive seed capital funding, the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme team will communicate the next steps to you. 

Q: Can I change my Business Idea/ name? 

A: Yes, you can. However, you are advised to send an email to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation,.org stating your reason and a proof or ID that reflects the changes. 

Q: Is TEF a charity organisation? 

A: The Tony Elumelu Foundation is a philanthropy committed to empowering African entrepreneurs across all 54 countries in Africa. 

Q:Arepregnantornursing mothersallowed toapply for TEF grant? 

A: Yes, they are. 

Q:Is it possible for couple to apply for TEF Entrepreneurship Programme separately? 

A: Members of the same family are not allowed to apply to the Programme, doing so would result in disqualification.   

Q:I have two ideas. Can I submit them separately? 

A: Unfortunately, this is not allowed by the Foundation. Applicants are expected to apply with only one existing business or business idea. Applicants found to have applied multiple times in the same cycle will be disqualified.

Q:What documents do we need to upload when applying? 

A: When filling the application form on TEFConnect platform, you will be required to upload a government registered ID and a passport photograph.  

Q: How can I be eligible for the TEF seed capital? 

A: Seed capital is disbursed to entrepreneurs who have successfully completed the training, mentoring, and pitching phases of the Programme, and meet certain participatory guidelines and objectives.  

Q: How can I access the free training module? 

A: As part of our support for all African entrepreneurs this year, we have made available the 12 weeks enterprise toolkit to everyone willing to learn. Kindly note that the training is free and self-paced; you are not required to submit any assignment or business plan and the to-do activities are for your learning and personal archives. Log into TEFConnect.net and click on TEFtraining at the top of the Homepage. 

Q: How do I prepare before the training starts? 

A: Ahead of the training, remain informed and stay connected on our platform www.tefconnect.net  

Q: Can I change my registered email address to a new one? 

A: Yes, you can. Kindly send the information with your government registered ID to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation.org

Q: How can I revalidate?

Q: Why am I disqualified? 

A: Unfortunately, your application did meet the selection criteria.  

Q: After revalidation, what next? 

A: Kindly note that communication will be sent to all successful applicants in the first week of April.

Q: I am unable to update my Business idea

Q: Can I apply again? 

A: Yes, only if you fall under the PREPARATORY category.  

Q: How can I confirm my eligibility and not reapply?

A: Kindly check for the details on the congratulatory message sent to you via email immediately after your application on TEFConnect. 

Q: When I try to validate, I see no changes on my profile 

A:  Kindly send an email to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation.org telling us in detail about the issue. 

Q:I have revalidated but I keep getting emails to revalidate. Is there a problem? 

A: Kindly ignore if you have already revalidated.  

Q:What does revalidation meanfor TEF? 

A: The term revalidation is strictly for Successful 2020 Applicants. It seeks to remind applicants to edit their profile and make any necessary changes if necessary before the training starts.  

Q:Who is eligible to revalidate? 

A:  Anyone who applied for the 2020 TEF Entrepreneurship Programme and is not in the PREPARATORY category, is eligible to validate on TEFConnect platform  

Q:I have not received updates for a while. Is there a problem? 

A: Kindly send an email to enquiries@tonyelumelufoundation.org using you registered email address and we will resolve immediately.  

Q: Can I still revalidate my application if I have not? 

A: Yes, you can. All 2020 applicants are advised to revalidate their applications.
