Jessica Medza Allogo is at the founder of of “Les Pots de l’Ogooue”, a Gabonese confectionery that produces jams made from local fruits in fond in her home country of Gabon. Before starting her business, Jessica worked for 10 years in the petroleum sector in Gabon and Asia where she acquired solid knowledge in process management and in quality management.

After returning from a long stint in Myanmar for work, a friend who knew about her love for fruit gave her a 40 kg crate of mangoes to take back to Gabon. Upon arrival, most of the mangoes were already ripe and not wanting to through them away she came up with the idea of making jams. She looked for recipes on the internet and within a few months she was creating jams for her family and loved ones. This continued until one of her family members suggested that she start selling her jams. She took on the advice and participated in a trade fair and to her surprise she sold out.

In 2016, she decided to hang up her engineering apron at Total to put on that of a gourmet entrepreneur when she officially founded Les Petits Pots de l’Ogooué a line of gourmet jams, based in Gabon: Les Petits Pots de l’Ogooué. In creating her recipes, Jessica draws on her travel experiences to create moments of escape. She selects precious ingredients from around the world to create delicious jams that highlight culture. When she’s not in her lab creating a new recipes, she takes care of her 5-year-old son
and inspires him to follow his dreams with courage and determination. Since completing the TEF Programme, Since then, Jessica has managed to sell nearly 14,000 jars of jams and generate over $105,000 in revenue (note: could be more as of 2020).

Flavien Kouatcha is a young engineer who is the head of Save Our Agriculture, a company specializing in aquaponics, a system that allows the cultivation of plants and the breeding of fish in the same device. Using fish droppings he is able to create a natural fertilizer for plant growth. Through the Save Our Agriculture system they are able to create organic gardens with produce such as tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, okra, but also catfish. Flavien Kouatcha markets its aquaponics units to individuals and professionals in urban areas. The advantage of his solution is that it makes it possible to obtain larger productions than in traditional agriculture, using fewer resources. For example, his urban aquaponics units help smallholder farmers grow 2 to 3 times more volumes of organic food by using only 10% of the water used by traditional agriculture on the same space. Since completing the TEF Programme, Flavien Kouatcha has achieved a turnover of over $120,000 and employed 18 people directly and 42 indirectly.

With a business team composed mainly of female locals, Angola’s Tidiane Rangel is securing Angola’s economic growth and empowering women through its direct and indirect contribution to the development of other local businesses. Her vision was inspired by a challenge she wanted to address, which is that the difficulty in local sourcing for needed resources in the braiding industry in Angola has led to the importation of a large part of production resources. To close this gap, UABILUKA invested in the purchase and distribution of the other needed resources in the industry.

Before becoming a Tony Elumelu Entrepreneur, Tidiane found it difficult to position her business in the market. In addition to not knowing what the most appropriate business strategy was, she also had a very limited product stock. However, the programme empowered her and her team to validate and ensure the sustainability of the business idea, prepared and provided guidance to the design of a suitable business plan and allowed them to increase their offerings. This expansion further allowed Uabiluka to strengthen the customer relationships and attract women specialists to work with them.

As a seasoned Brand Strategist and Multimedia Designer professional with over 8 years of experience, James Strauss decided to launch a 360 Media company in Namibia in 2019 to assist companies with their digital marketing needs.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme gave him the much-needed support he required to make a commitment of such magnitude. He knew Nasmalust was a viable business opportunity when digital marketing and media began to trend in Africa. Most brands were adopting the US and Europe-based approach to marketing to Africans, and his vision was to change that and make it more authentic by adding Afrocentric elements.

During the 2020 State of Emergency in Namibia as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Nasmalust was registered as an essential service company, making it among the very few companies that could assist public organizations with the distribution of information relating to Covid-19.

For James, his greatest challenge has been his desire to scale the business and become the digital media giant he plans for it to be. He is constantly contracting jobs to young videographers, photographers, and marketing professionals and providing Namibians with local content through their work with local brands.

With a scientific academic background, Saint Eudes followed the world of architecture and then found himself in the field of ICT where he served as an incubator, managing teams for projects and building his leadership skills. However, it was in 2019, through the Tony Elumelu Foundation programme, that he received the training and validation he needed as an entrepreneur to enable him to run a business.

Since its creation, his technological company, “KOSUNGA” has offered solutions in the field of information and communication technologies with services deployed across Africa through its platforms. The company is evolving from two perspectives: the first is the heart, which is the development of technological platforms and many others, having a continental influence by their research & development. The second perspective is in providing a development solution: websites, web and mobile applications, software, social media management (with social networks, digital marketing), and ISO Certified Training (Partner of PECB American & Canadian company).

Saint Eudes believes in the realization of projects (awareness-raising, workshops, conferences) that are concerned with internet governance affecting young people and Congolese citizens living in Congo. His passion is to develop his country, and the continent of Africa in terms of economy and technology.

In addition to being an entrepreneur, he has several commitments to voluntary service in the Republic of Congo, including the All Humanity Network, Youthlead, YouthPower, CGNOG, ELONGA, KOTLIN (new Google language in Congo Brazzaville), GDG (Google Developer Group), and YOUTHCOM.

Angolan entrepreneur Angelo Octavio decided to delve into the Healthcare sector to manufacture a new kind of disposable gloves (latex powder-free, Vinyl, Nitrile), in order to ease the high demand of hospital ready-to-use materials in Angola, and hopefully contribute to the decrease of public health risks experienced in public hospitals.

His company, AAEI Empreendimentos Lda came about during his first second year doing Chemical Engineering in Angola. “I realized that getting a degree was not going to fulfill me because I wanted to think and be part of the solution that could solve some of the most basic problems in Luanda,” he says.

It was there that he met one of his business partners, who would join him to bring life to some projects that could bring some solutions to common problems.
