Brewing Tradition into Innovation: Olufunmilola Nworie
In 2015, Olufunmilola Nworie turned a familiar Nigerian favourite, hibiscus (zobo), into a bold new venture with Lochids Limited. Backed by TEF funding, she reimagined the drink into hygienic, NAFDAC-approved hibiscus infusion tea bags, blending hibiscus, ginger, and cloves for a healthier, convenient experience. With plans for canned hibiscus beverages, she is positioning Lochids as a modern alternative to soft drinks.
Her journey is more than product innovation, it’s about impact. By sourcing directly from farmers, she strengthens rural livelihoods while creating jobs across processing and distribution. With over 2,000 units sold, distributors onboarded, and certification secured, Lochids is proving that Nigerian agriculture can stand proudly on the global stage. Olufunmilola’s story is one of vision, courage, and transformation, the kind every entrepreneur dreams of living.

Alumni volunteers will support with coordination and other activities during the exercise, while connecting with fellow entrepreneurs and giving back to the next generation.
📩 Look out for an email from us in the coming weeks as our visit to your country gets closer. We’ll share more details on how you can get involved.
